Simplicity 8510 1930's Top Sew-Along, mistakes were made
Part 2! in which I struggle to make the lovely brassiere (with my own twist) featured in Simplicity 8510. If you haven't seen part 1 where I make the shorts I recommend it! I hope that some of y'all can learn from my mistakes, fabric suggestions are on the envelope for a reason, and stiff organza + skin = unpleasantness

In which I attempt to actually USE & FOLLOW one of the patterns I own instead of just keeping it in a binder I periodically flip through and think 'Oooh what if I made that?' and then promptly put back on the shelf. Seriously though, commercial patterns or just patterns, in general, still intimidate me. Like, if I screw up who do I blame? Me or the pattern? I can't handle the uncertainty! Anywa...
Making a Plague Mask & My Accelerating Descent into Madness🙃
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.4 года назад
Even after the effort of making this I still don’t have the courage to actually wear it in public for fear of it being ‘too much’, even though I think it could be very effective at encouraging social distancing. Who wants to go anywhere near someone who looks like death? (I look like death even without the mask, but that’s beside the point) As I mentioned in the video this mask was largely insp...
Making of: Amethyst Organza Wings
Просмотров 11 тыс.4 года назад
I made wings! These are a little different from my typical wire hanger wings, but I like that they have some movement. I had no idea flailing my arms around could be so taxing, but my arms were so sore after trying for like half an hour to look graceful while flapping my arms like a madwoman. Someone asked me “what are they for?” and I had a mini existential crisis. Like, dude what is anything ...
Recycling An Old Umbrella Into Reusable Bags
Просмотров 42 тыс.5 лет назад
Woo recycling! I’ve held on to the fabric from this old broken WWF umbrella for so long because I was quite attached to the animal print, and I finally turned it into something...or multiple somethings. Yes, I am that lady with the small mountain of reusable bags piled on the register, and proud of it! Funny story, this umbrella was just one of many casualties. My brother used to go through umb...
Making a Sunflower Fairy Costume
Просмотров 21 тыс.5 лет назад
I made this costume for a photography meetup. It may not have turned out quite as I had planned, but I'm still glad I finished it, and I think on the right model it could be very pretty. To be clear: the statue of liberty is a lovely work of art and engineering, not to mention an incredibly powerful symbol...but it's not exactly the sort of thing one wants to be compared to while attempting to ...
Making Fairy Faux Stained Glass

Not terrible for a first attempt, I think I'll be trying faux stained glass again sometime in the future since all it takes is acrylic paint and glue…and somewhere to hang it Let me know if you'd like to see another video like this one! This is the video I got the idea from: ruclips.net/video/f6HQIIqgtkI/видео.html First song: Bloom, Kori ruclips.net/video/4ubr8kxWuvE/видео.html&frags=pl,wn Sec...
Making Stained Glass Inspired Earrings
Просмотров 4,8 тыс.6 лет назад
I used to have a little glass enamel night light cover, I really loved the stained glass peacock design, but it was broken. For the life of me I can't find anything quite like it, but I did use it as inspiration for the design of these earrings. I'm still bummed that it's broken, but I made these as a thank you gift for someone and they seem to like them, so at least a little something good cam...
My Sewing Pattern Collection/Confessions
Просмотров 7 тыс.6 лет назад
For those who are interested in this kind of video, here’s a look at my current sewing pattern collection, some of the more ridiculous patterns I have, and how I store them. This is more of a talky video, mostly me being an awkward human being, no real educational value I’m afraid. But hopefully maybe some entertainment value… even if it’s only cringe humor I really hope that it’s not Sometimes...
How to Transform Old T-shirts into a Nightgown
Просмотров 28 тыс.6 лет назад
I've fallen and I can't get up! Actually, this video is about how to sew a simple nightgown (albeit one that bares a strong resemblance to wilted lettuce) out of old T-shirts Not the most attractive, or flattering nightgown, but still technically a wearable article of clothing. That said, it seems like deliberately ugly clothing is kind of a trend (in certain very specific circles) So if you’re...
Seasonally Appropriate Dead Bird Earrings
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.6 лет назад
I made some dead birds for my mom's birthday, moms love dead birds...right? No birds were harmed in the making of this video, but some shrinky dinks were cooked. Song: Dance Macabre, Composed by Camille Saint Saëns Yes I'm aware it is the most stereotypical of halloweeny classical music, but some things are classic for a reason! and I am creatively tapped out from inktober, and could not muster...
Blue Fairy Costume and Photoshoot

Woop, still suck at talking to the camera, but awkwardness is fine on youtube right?...right? Awkwardness aside, I wanted to share my completed Blue Fairy Costume. I've been uploading making-of type videos of pieces of this costume for a while, so I'm glad to finally share it in its entirety. If you'd like to see more photos of this costume I have a bunch up on my blog, and I'd be thrilled if y...

A lil' rant about trying to get the final shots of this project. I decided I wanted to try leaving my house (for once...I don't get out a lot) to try and get a slightly more interesting backdrop. There's a parking lot relatively near with all kinds of neat textures, crumbling concrete, plants, fences, etc. Just to try something new, you know? Anywho, I put on my makeup, my outfit, grab my camer...

I destroyed a duvet cover for this!? Sew and Tell
Просмотров 5 тыс.7 лет назад
This project wasn't quite as straight forward as I hoped it would be. After the first failed bodice I wasn't terribly diligent about filming the process of making it. So this is less of an instructional video, and more of a "join me on a stupid sewing misadventure" type video, but I still think it has some educational value...maybe...sort of ~shrugs~ Despite the fit being a bit off, the dye job...

Does the glue peel off at all? This is really beautiful btw, i've been wanting to try something like this and I was thinking It would be really difficult to do, so I stuck with pretty basic geometric stuff for the sketch. But this has given me the inspiration to try and make something with more detail and creativity. Thank you so much!

Great idea & lovely nightgows, all shown here - in my book, basic t-shirts are the ones that are ugly as hell, so anything upcycled from them is already a plus! ;D And I actually prefer the look of the nightgown before you added that drawstring thingy. But the only issue is that the music here is overly loud, while the speech is way too quiet, when it shoud be the other way round... And having to constantly crank up wolume when you speak and conversely crank it down *a lot* when the music comes up is annoying.

Black caulking silicon is another idea. Use a dripless consuming gun. Dripless guns actually stop silicon coming out, ordinary guns keep on pumping for a few seconds. Cut the tip at 45deg angle and draw a black line on the tip to show which way is down.

You use to be able to find stain glass paint at craft stores, now the only way to get it is to order it online. You have to be able to see the colors in person. They looked just like stain glass when you finished. All you can find is the children's suncatcher paint and it's not the same, it fades. That looks beautiful.

Your depression confession does not do you justice. You're talented, intelligent, and you're funny to listen to. I thought this video was great, and will look for more. You sound young, don't waste it. I'm turning 80 in October and absolutely don't know how it happened. Don't let regrets rule your life.

For my miniature stained glass windows I tried using lead tape but it’s so hard to work with, so I gave in to using liquid lead. I also wanted Vitrail glass paint that those are so expensive so Im using Gallery Glass. I use a toothpick to spread the colors and a small detail paintbrush for the lead lines

I'm not sure why you felt the need to degrade what you successfully created. SO many people would love to be able to do that and can't. I am one of those people. My hands shake terribly and it just is not something I could do. We all have to know what our weaknesses truly are. This is not one of your weaknesses. It was beautiful! I would be so proud of myself if I had done this. I am a crafter of many different things and learned early on that I am my own worst critic. It kept me from doing things I enjoyed just because I believed what I did wasn't as beautiful as other things I had seen. Please don't do that to yourself. You should be very proud of that creation. I am envious of you and your abilities/patience/perseverance. Great job
